Norman has volunteered for many years with Mathcounts, an annual math competition for middle schoolers in Collier, Lee, Hendy, Glades and Charlotte Counties, sponsored by the Florida Engineering Society, Calusa Chapter. He has co-chaired past competitions and has traveled to the state competition in Orlando.Norman has helped out for many years in the Collier County public schools.
Serving most recently on the Collier County Advisory Board of the National Academy Foundation, promoting engineering as a career choice to area high schoolers. He is a member of the Golden Gate High School NAF Academy of Engineering Advisory Board.
Norman is passionate about helping students discover the possibilities of engineering through mentorship, education, and hands-on learning. From guiding entrepreneurial programs to sharing his expertise in transportation and civil engineering, he helps students connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities.
Through school partnerships, career days, and STEM initiatives, Norman has encouraged students to explore problem-solving, creativity, and engineering concepts.
His work with programs like Math Superstars and the Sea Gate Elementary nature habitat project has helped young learners build confidence while developing valuable skills in math, science, and innovation.
Norman’s work with Love A Child extends his engineering expertise to Haiti, where he has supported the development of Miracle Village and Marketplace, a sustainable community created after the 2010 earthquake.
Creating resilient communities through thoughtful planning, sustainable design, and engineering collaboration.
Through Engineering Ministries International (EMI), Norman has supported surveying, planning, and engineering services for a 78-acre development in Fond Parisien. The community includes more than 500 resilient homes, education facilities, recreation areas, and commercial spaces designed to provide stability and opportunity for residents.
Beyond long-term development, Love A Child’s work provides ongoing support through education, nutrition, and essential services across Haiti. Its outreach programs operate 13 schools that educate and feed more than 5,000 children daily, while food distribution efforts continue to reach thousands of families.
Following the devastating 2010 earthquake, the organization’s existing orphanage property was transformed into Haiti’s largest mobile transitional hospital, providing critical medical care to thousands of patients during the early recovery period.
Norman and the design team supported this humanitarian effort by providing engineering services alongside international medical teams and relief organizations.
